Sorry, Ivonne, the museum in Turin seems to have moved tor removed the link. This one on Wikipedia has an explanation although it refers to a different model of da Vinci's machine.

Thank you for the photograph, Michael!This is a subject that I am not too conversant with, I am afraid.Also, sadly, the link does not work, at least not when I tried it a few minutes ago.But an incredible mind to be admired!  1478 and thinking about a car!!  Wow!
