Has anyone else noticed how the upholstery on the new trains are already wearing badly ? Has the spec been changed?- do we blame Sadiq Khan?

I can't say I've noticed the seating but I do wish Putney Bridge Station could be refurbished. It is a mess! Peeling paint and plaster and fittings that echo the 1930's. I am so ashamed of it when friends come. Don't we care about our surroundings anymore!

I would prefer a wipe clean surface rather than a material designed to hide whatever is waiting for you when you sit down!

I hadn't really observed that but it's possible the specification has changed to cut costs. The newer trains also have fewer seats to enable more room for standing so perhaps the seats there are get more use? And are also less visible to spot any deterioration!

Apologies - on the new District Line trains the upholstery seating areas are showing heavy wear almost as bad as the older stock

I think it's way things are with all of them these days. I travelled on a new GWR carriage recently and it was akin to sitting on a park bench in terms of comfort. It's all very cheaply made.

Which trains? SWR, TfL, ...?
