Michael, thanks for the reply. It’s one of those things that never really enters into conversation, and I have often wondered if it’s just me who found the actual experience of going to watch a race, a bit boring.
Members of my family loved horse racing and it was always on the tv back in the 1960s, when I was a child. I thought I would l enjoy horse racing and when in Liverpool about 25 years ago, the Grand National was on and I was thrilled to be able to watch it live in the crowd at Aintree. We stood by the first fence and it really was something seeing all the horses go by, but that was it as far as we were concerned for the whole afternoon. I have also carried on the family tradition of having a bet on the National, but have decided not to anymore, as I have totally lost interest.
My family would love to watch motor racing. Young people are interested in it.
