Starmer scraps NHS England to bring health service back under 'democratic control'https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cx29lrl826rtHmmmm, why and why now? Who is going to keep all patient data for NHS England?  Is this a move to emulate Trump? What happens to NHS Scotland, NHS Wales and HSC in Northern Ireland?So many questions!

I agree.Also, "democratic control"?  What does that mean?  We are not all qualified doctors or nurses....

Starmer short political history is very poor when it comes to democracy and devolving power. So I would take the: "I’m bringing management of the NHS back into democratic control.."  with a bag of salt.

I agree Robert,What I would like to know is how the Department of Health and Social Care will be able to cope with the additional work if they have not the experience or know how to carry it out.It is all very well saying NHS England employs around 15,000 people.  What category of employees are they?  Just administrative or specialist staff like doctors and nurses too?It seems to me that it is all smoke screen and not much substance.  Leaving a lot to chance, do you not think?

Even Tony Benn's comment that 'the Labour party has never been a socialist party, although there have always been socialists in it' seems to lack any credibility now. Keir Starmer? Rachel Reeves? Wes Streeting? Socialists??? You must be kidding!

Let’s see what the unions make of this.  NHS England employs around 15,000 people so many employees will lose their jobs and if any other party had tried this the unions would have gone ballistic.  So far Labour have added tax on education, taxed businesses with NI increases, frozen OAPs and slapped farmers with IHT so it seems like health will be fair game for the future.  I hope nobody is on any benefits.  Who would of thought it from a socialist party.

Hello Andy,They have not scrapped the NHS.  The incoming NHS England chair, Dr Penny Dash, has said that "she will help lead the work "to bring together NHSE and DHSC (the Department of Health and Social Care) to reduce duplication and streamline functions."So, I suppose this means that all the administration aspect of NHS England will be passed to the DHSC....  The announcement today was very short in detail though.  The how? was never answered.
