Old  M & S

Don't know if anybody has walked past M & S today, PHS. But they are arranging millions of artificial flowers outside, first I thought they were there selling them as about 5 people arranging them on the existing screen behind the wood flower pots. Even though it looks lovely and bright, rather over the top, one of the young ladies said it's all the shops have contributed to this. I really think at night people will be pulling these and taking them home. Seeing is believing un believable. Rather over the top for the frontage of a derelict shop.

M & S are probably the most desirable tenant for any property developer. They have been on PHS for decades so the present landlord would have had a fair return on their investment.Surely the onus is on the landlord to maintain the property in an agreeable manner and the present blingy extravaganza by Putney Bid just goes to show how irrelevant they are-a failed exercise adding to the cost of business on PHS which is always paid for by the consumer in the end. The plastic flowers will be covered in dust and black oil in weeks. Surely the money wasted on Putney Bid would be better spent on policing or street cleaning or not spent at all

I applaud this wonderfully exuberant display as a diversion from litter, stained pavements, those dreary planters, too many coffee shops, over priced charity shops, the tatty oxogen tree (does it still work?) and the conga of traffic that clogs Putney High Street by day and by night!

Seems to me like a sensible way to mask the number of vacant units on the High Street but the fact that Putney BID have gone for artificial rather than fresh might suggest pessimism on units being occupied in the near future.

This must have cost a lot of money artificial flowers are not that cheap.
