personally I feel there's a lack of understanding about technology here. It's very easy to communicate without an actual telephone. Neither Signal nor Telegram (I think) need a mobile phone number and there are plenty of other messaging apps available.

Agree with Sue, all phones should be looked at, you do not know what they are planning. Also it will give more info on who they are, what contacts they have on their phone, who they know here already.

My point was obviously it's all very well Vance saying Europe has issues but it seems the US has it's own problems that need addressing. How do we know migrants' phones aren't analysed? I suspect they aren't as the police probably don't have the capacity internally, or the budget to use external security specialists who are often used.

That is exactly what Vance was referring to. The enemy within forming their own network to potentially plot terror attacks. All illegal immigrants must have their mobile phones confiscated for analysis, with no exceptions. All those that have already arrived with phones should have had them taken away, but I suspect there is probably a clause in the ECHR regs that prevents this.
If weapons are available to idiots they will use them. In Europe and the UK it is knives and cars as weapons of choice. Vance was referring to the enemy within Europe and the UK. Many migrants have not been integrated into Society and play to extremism. Since Starmer took office in July over 25,000 illegal migrants have arrived to the UK, no homes, no schools and no clear deterrent to stop the flow.
