Queueing to cross Hammersmith Bridge

I walked past the bridge earlier today and thought there must have been some sort of rowing event on. Then later I saw this post on Twitter. Apparently there is a gas leak and the bridge is down to single file. We’re reached the point where we now have pedestrian traffic jams to go with the car traffic jams in Putney. That photograph reminds me of a Boat Race day in the early '80s when a group of my friends and I, living in Fulham, went to watch it on Hammersmith Bridge.It was heaving with people!  We were all on the Putney side to watch the rowing boats go past and then we all ran to the opposite side to see them go towards Chiswick Bridge!
