Democracy Is Being Cancelled!

Tip of the iceberg! This corrupt Govt is out of control and its   gerrymandering of voting rights is just the start. This might not affect our own local elections in May but the principle of what Labour is proposing is totally unacceptable. It is a blatant attempt to prevent Reform voters a chance to have their candidates elected, and of course it affects all the voters of the other Parties too.

SueLiving in one of the areas where the election has been postponed I am in agreement with the delay. It would seem profligate to hold elections knowing that the exercise would need repeating in a years time.On Richards point about desperate for something to criticise the govt for I dont agree. There is no need for desperation on that score as they daily come up with new areas for that to be done.

No, Sue, their rights have not been taken away, just postponed.  And did you "squawk with anger" when the London elections were postponed a year (© Sue Hammond) because of covid? I don't recall it. And no, I wouldn't have complained if that had happened here. It strikes me you're so desperate to find something to criticise the government with, you'll seize any excuse, however irrelevant and trivial it is.

Richard your reply is dancing on the head of a pin.  Democracy should never be 'postponed' as you put it because for all the residents in those nine areas, their voting rights have been taken away, so in effect cancelled. If our own local elections had been cancelled in the same underhand way, I am sure that you would be the first one on here squawking with anger.
