Putney Bridge

Something about Putney Bridge shutting from the 10th to the 18th February. Anybody heard about this.

What remains unclear from this letter is when will Putney Bridge be closed and in what directions. I presume it is shut any night there is work taking place in the vicinity

Asked one of the Bus Drivers today, he hadn't heard anything about the bridge shutting.  He said if he had he would have had his route changed.

Andy my road has had a traffic jam since about 6.30 this morning, where will they be going. Not just into the High Street, obviously taking a short cut to then go over the bridge. The Bus garage is in my road, I will ask one of the drivers who have a ciggy out the front when I go out what they know about the shutting of the bridge.

Dont think anyone drives to Putney to catch a bus over the bridge.

Surely this will cause a problem for buses as well. How are they going to let people know who drive to Putney and need to get over the bridge.

Thank you Barbara.I thought it looked very much like the Commondale in the background.  But why put the sign there only and nothing near Putney Bridge?

Ivonne, think the sign is down the Lower Richmond Rd, somebody on our Chelverton Rd, forum put on there as they had seen the sign.

I couldn't find anything on the Web either.Perhaps it's like the sign in the film L.A. Story?Or perhaps road signs now come with yet another new version of AI that is so cheap and powerful, they can predict the future whist running off grid on a 12 volt battery?Seems very unlikely that WBC would just try and hide any future closure - after all were the works not just completed but finished early?

This is a copy-paste of the message Putney Society posted on FB Oh dear......wonder where we'll be diverted to? Apparently they didn't finish the road works before Christmas, so they have to link the traffic lights to TfL grid. Means digging up the road, resurfacing and painting after that. Got to be done! ! Edit. I've been told these works are to be done at night, but haven't found an official post with times.
I cannot work out where that sign is.

It was on a FB Putney Society post, picture of an advanced roadside notification plus  comment added by someone as to the reason. No idea why the sensors weren't added earlier.

Interesting Michael, where are you getting that information? It’s not what’s on Wandsworth website, and it’s not what’s on the sign on Lower Richmond Road.By any chance, do you also know why these sensors were not installed when the works were carried out a few weeks ago…..much to the Council’s delight that the works were finished early!!!🤣🤣Sounds like they finished early because they forgot to install sensors!

Apparently overnight works to fit the road sensors for the traffic lights.
