Burger

Another burger place opening just past the Spotted Horse.

I have lived in Putney long enough to have heard cries against too many shoe shops, building societies, betting shops, charity shops and now burger bars. With 30 per cent of retail now done on line we are lucky to have any shops. With a bridge at one end and shops either side our High Street will always be a mess. Get used to it. The presence of at least six super markets shows its strength as a shopping centre.

Rather than further dissertations on the present state of the High Street what is required is a concerted and informed plan of action with our Councillors whom we hear to little from in the forefront of initiatives.

Which burger joint will it be? I read that the Chipotle in Watford closed two years after opening. Considering they have about 40 customers per day in the one on PHS, it's easy to guess what will happen soon.

On the M&S question I would say yes, particularly to a food hall. I'm more likely to shop there than I would have been when the store was previously open. It has always been pricey but has some really good products. With Lidl in town now you can stock up there on basic items and go to M&S to get the treats. Sainsbury's is too unpredictable these days. Yes items can be cheap if there is a Nectar offer but if you go there one week it is available and the next week it is full price making it impossible to be sure what you will pay.

Wilko is still empty and M&S and the old R.Dyas. Could have clothes as well in M&S.  I don't think the quality of the material in H & M is that great.  Miss BHS, Next and River Island, also Top Shop.

Interesting how they manage to avoid all these tacky businesses in Barnes. We got another slot machine outlet recently here in Putney. Not one of those in Barnes. I’m told the council has limited control over which businesses open up but Richmond seems to be more proactive than Wandsworth.
