Why has this been brought up again right before Christmas, the same last year. Is Esther just trying to make a name for herself, because I think it is a dangerous thing to give somebody the Authority to end your life. To many people will be put down and who will be able to prove they didn't ask for it. That lovely 17yr old girl wanted to be here for as long as she could.  They should just make more care for people available and make the end of their life the best they can. Or we will be getting to many greedy children having their parents put down to gain their money and the Government won't care as they will be taking their share out of it.

many people have a DNR in place, so to some extent people already have a choice albeit in limited circumstances

I think there are lots of protections in the proposal ie 2 doctors have to agree, the patient must be able to make their own decision, high court judge has to agree, patient must have less than 6 months to live.I really dont think its a case of mum being a bit of a burden so let's give her a jab.For me if I'm in terrible pain that cant be relieved or that my life loses all dignity I think I'd prefer to go under my terms.A good friend of mine had such an awful last few months where she was begging to be helped to go. I wouldnt wish that on anyone.But we will all have our own thoughts on this subject, but it's not a free for all to dispose of the inconveniently ill elderly.
