A cycle in the park doesn't need to be aggressive towards pedestrians

I like to cycle in the park. Also I like walking there too. I had to shout quite a few times at cyclists making too close a pass around not just myself but children too on the pedestrian priority paths.I have to agree with some of the points made in the article.Wearing too hats I have seen fear in the eyes of parents as they dash to retrieve their toddler as if a herd of bulls were approaching instead of me on a bicycle.All it takes is to slow down and stop if necessary, to turn worried pedestrians into smiling ones. They have tried several methods along the Thames path. I do not believe any worked.Ultimately the UK needs some up to date laws especially if we are to get the benefits of considerate cycling and scootering.Just follow best practice abroad would seem sensible.That said even existing laws are not being enforced.

I am not too sure they will work.There is a chicane-style of narrowing the road on Sawyer's Hill, on the bridge that crosses the brook.  From experience, that does not slow them down.There are also some bumps which they fly over and pedestrian crossing are there too.  No time to stop for pedestrians or anything else either.

Well an electric scooter went through the traffic lights end of Sainsbury's rd. last week when I was crossing the road, like the speed of light.

Hello Ed,It is a very sad reality. Richmond Park has become a racing track and the aggression shown by the racing cyclists is terrifying.My husband refuses to cycle in Richmond Park during the weekends as he has been pushed off the road, shouted at, sworn at and his bicycle kicked.We often go to Pembroke Lodge during the week.  It is delightful to go there but there still are a few racing cyclists about.  And their attitude of self-entitlement is shocking really.  Funnily, the reviled motorists are incrediby courteous and considerate.I just wish the enforcement of the speed limit in Richmond Park becomes a reality very soon.  Also, good old fashioned manners have become exactly that, old fashioned.  Sadly.
