Anyway back to the topic.Thank you Richard for your feedback, I have not used it, but may give it a try.Dedicated cycle lanes should require less confidence than if they didn't exist not more IMO.If I get a chance I shall measure the width. Possibly the angle I was viewing made it seem narrower (see below). With regard to the alternative - a left lane cycle lane: There is a yellow box which could facilitate a right turn but a left lane would also facilitate going straight ahead. Some cycle traffic lights wouldn't go amiss at this any many other junctions. What price a couple of led lights?Talking of lights: I observed around 5% of cyclists observing the red lights at the Putney Bridge Road/Putney High Street in my non scientific observations from Wagamamas (always good friendly service with 5 scores on the doors and some very good recent menu changes - just me being unexcited about Ramen, noodles etc but out voted as usual).A Left lane would also facilitate a left turn for cyclists from PBR to the High Street - currently illegal!Off topic:As regards safety on the High Street: The biggest issue is the sequence of traffic lights that hold vehicles stationary on a green until a gap appears at the last few seconds before they turn red. Pedestrians assume the stationary traffic means its ok to cross and drivers have to accelerate quickly from 0-20 to take that space that has appeared in the last few seconds of green or be held again at the lights. This is an extremely bad situation and will lead to more accidents. It's difficult to see how TFL's finest could have come up with such madness unless of course it was just modelled and they did not follow up on observations.
