Putney Bridge traffic chaos

"When the work was originally announced, the council did say that traffic was likely to increase but anticipated that driving patterns would settle after a couple of weeks once more people became aware of the delays in the area."Do politicians ever admit they are wrong?

I’m honestly baffled by how TFL/Wandsworth operate. Putney Hight St road is always gridlocked, in my years of living just off it I’ve never seen the road clear unless it’s before 7 am or after 9/10pm. The high st is so polluted as a result and rather than make life easier for the traffic, they’ve reduced lanes going northbound onto the bridge & now these roadworks have caused chaos?! Does anyone know how many actual incidents have occurred at those lights that they’re digging up? Is causing months of gridlock is actually worth it because I have a strong suspicion it’s not.

Yes, total chaos continues. I presume they just expect us to get used to continual delay and inconvenience. I notice also that the TFL travel app updates on bus arrival timings seem to change minute by minute. The destination of the bus is also altered after you alight, while it is on its way well short of the destination. And so on … Nick

At the time of writing driving patterns have certainly not settled down and the assertion from Wandsworth Council that they have minimised disruption is a matter of official lip service. Bus services on the lower Richmond road continue to be dislocated to the annoyance and inconvenience of everyone including bus drivers who are doing their best under difficult conditions!
