I guess the reason a lot of cafes and small restaurants no longer take cash is they don't have the cost and time of couting and taking cash to a bank, there's less risk of theft from staff, customers or passers-by, and transactions generally take less time than cash ones as there's no calculating and giving change. Cash can be a drawback sometimes - I was in the Rocket once with three friends and after one of us had bought the first round with a card 'Spoons payment system crashed. Only one of my friends, who is a strong advocate of cash, had enough to buy a round - in fact, three of them! I think we sorted things out on subsequent visits:-)
