Nick Clegg

There was recently (that evening) some vitriolic cobblers posted by members who didn’t go and attend a very informative and entertaining one-on-one conversation at the Railway pub last Friday between Nick Clegg, a local and, slightly more significantly, ex-DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER and the Lib Dem candidate for Putney seems to have vanished. Can’t say I’m sorry as I was somewhat surprised at the normally balanced people on the forum who dived in with the usual condescending, uninformed and prejudiced tripe that I’d expect from the less enlightened. I earnestly hope you’d deal that crap out if it had been Farage. I'm beginning to wonder. Mr Brown… don’t even bother 😏

It was an interesting chat. I went expecting the usual political waffle but it was more of a podcast conversation. He’s a very affable guy unlike the usual political robots. I’d be very happy to spend an evening with him irrespective of any politics. However, when the Meta/Facebook subject came up there was a distinct smell of towing the ‘party’ line. For his current employer. Otherwise a surprisingly good evening.

Freddie.  I've rather lost track of where you're going with this? My post on the other tread was possibly a little mystical as I only skimmed the post marked "Lib Dems" very quickly and just noticed I somehow interpreted "Nick Clegg" as "Ed Davey" (!) and thought: what stunt would Ed do in a pub? Drink a yard of ale? But sometimes the humour doesn't come out in electronic messages.  I understand Ed's building sandcastles on a beach today ...However, it would have been interesting to hear Nick Clegg - his Meta job is intriguing - plus I've not been in the revamped Railway pub, but unfortunately I was on my way to hear some Bach at the Barbican on the 14th. The trouble with this snap election is there's already loads of things in the diary - I'm going to struggle to make the hustings tomorrow evening because of a long standing lunch appointment with an ex-colleague in the depths of Kent ...

My mistake. It was labelled ‘lib dem’ and is still up. Whatever, the above is still relevant. Farage supporters…. fill your boots.
