Food waste

Went to great trouble putting food waste in new Council-supplied bin, left it in prominent position outside house. Ignored by binmen. Zero points.

I've seen the lids left open on purpose to show that the bin has been emptied.  It's always a good idea to rinse the bin out before the next week anyway.

Andy, they had 2-3 months to work things out. Why does there have to be an error before than can be a success?

Perhaps, or exhaustion for other areas?On our road, black bin bags were collected later than usual, the food waste caddies in my neighbours properties were emptied but lids left open and the recycling bags are still all over the road!!!  :-( :-( :-(

Ours seemed to work well.  black bag collected first. Recycling a few hours later. Then brown bin emptied and left neatly on path.  Beginners luck?

I put out 2 small electricals they have been left, after checking website they must be in a bag ? surely 2 could have been picked up

No, I did not think you were crowing for a minute!You are correct, we do not have waste caddies on our side of the road.But opposite they do and many neighbours put the rubbish bags, recycling bags and food caddies outside on the pavement....So, the crows were happily on that side of the road......

A small grey bin for indoors, plus the compostable sacks, where inside the brown bin when it was delivered.

I wasn’t crowing (sorry! Yvonne. I hope your neighbour’s bags will be collected today. Good though that you can have the food waste caddies in your street. I seem to remember that you thought you wouldn’t?

I thought we would receive a small bin for inside and some bags to start off the new system, but I just have a largish bin for outside.

That was great for you!On our road, the collection happened much later than usual but recycling bags and a brown food waste caddy put outside by one of my neighbours are still there.What has arrived is a horde of crows!

Just an observation, not a moan. Agreed, it may take a week or two for the new schedules to bed in 🙂

We live in a society of moaners.Where people will moan about rubbish whilst not bothering to pick up a crisp packet or plastic bottle they walk past and put it in a bin nearby.My father calls it self help. Where people will moan about their house being burgled or theft or crime they've seen. They'll say the police aren't interested. However they wouldn't have bothered to report it! So how do they know. Yet when I reported a burglary and followed it up. The police got finger prints and tracked down the suspect.They say they can't get an appointment with their GP. Yet I seem to get one within 24 hours at Chartfield Surgery. The wife and 3 kids generally do as well.

Well, the black bags have gone but orange recycling bags and food waste are still waiting; still they've got until 5pm ...

For some reason multi-pickups in Chartfield Ave ran late, so there was plenty of time for the local fox to decimate an orange bag. Seems to be lack of coordination of various pick-up vehicles. Surely the process doesn't need to be so complicated?

It's a separate collection from the black/orange bags.https://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/foodwaste"...From 10 June, you will notice that separate vehicles will collect your rubbish, recycling, food waste and small electricals.Collection timesPut your rubbish, recycling, food waste and small electricals out together at the same time.Your collections will be at different times during the day, up until 5pm, so don’t worry if some collections are later than you are used to."
