Phone theft East Putney

You may have heard a police siren earlier. A young girl had her phone snatched from her hand by a group of youths on Lime bikes.

Other bicycle hire companies have left London due to the high crime rate.The cost of stolen bikes are passed onto paying customers through higher fares and lack of competition.It is a huge assumption that remaining companies will continue to invest and not also exit the market due to high crime and lack of support from local government.Despite Wandsworth Council being pro ULEZ it has yet to allocate a single parking space for hire bicycles.A clear example of how high crime is a barrier to implementing green policies.The so-called green 4x4 Mayor has no plans for a London wide bicycle hire scheme.

Whole load of Wimbledon College Boys, were stopped from attacking another young man yesterday kicking him etc.  This was on the next door site. A lady stepped in.  Never mind about dirty water are they putting something in ours as lots of kids going loopy.

> So this crime is the fault of the cycle provider and not the thief ?No, I was simply replying to the statement that if the perpetrator was on a Lime bike then they could be traced, which is not necessarily the case.Lime want to make their bikes more secure for several reasons, not least of which that a broken/hijacked Lime bike  stops being available for legitimate users, and is also a reasonable expense to fix.

"zipped tops over their lower faces and they also wore hoodies"A common sight. The uniform of thieves on two wheels whether motorised or not. Unless someone wants to use the excuse of it simply being street fashion of course.

There was another phone theft using a Lime Bike in Putney yesterday. Again a female victim near Deodar Rd. The perpetrators were black and wore zipped tops over their lower faces and they also wore hoodies.  Clearly an increasing issue locally as well as throughout London.  Let's hope for more beat bobbies.

Unlikely. They are easily broken to be ridden around without being checked out by an account holder.Lime are working on making the bikes more secure.

I'm guessing lime-bikes have gps and one needs an account to unlock the bike? if so tracking down the culprits should be easy
