Have Plymouth Argyle gone mad?

Absolutely nothing to do with Putney, but Plymouth Argyle are considering making Wayne Rooney their manager.

I am flattered that you take such an interest in posts I have made that you remember them and have the time to delve through the archives to repost them.Bit sad though really is it not ?And thank you for your concerns over my head and my keyboard.Both are well enough to begin to understand and perhaps hopefully draw attention to others, the reasons for your fixation with Israel and your prejudices against it.By the way, do you support Plymouth or 'beloved' Arsenal as does your leader ?

At least the club can now go back to being Plymouth Argyle, instead of being known as “Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle”.  Let’s hope Wayne doesn’t get a job as a t.v. pundit. I enjoy the online football comments at times like these.   Some people want him to become the manager at Manchester Utd.

Rooney was a great footballer and Manchester United’s all-time top scorer but top players don’t always make top managers. Obviously!

On MailOnline comments someone asks if the Plymouth Argyle Board are taking drugs!  Others saying haven’t they seen what Wayne Rooney has done to Birmingham.  No-one thinking it’s a good move for Plymouth.

"t wouldn't happen in any other field would it "Both the Labour & Conservative party have had ministers resign in disgrace only to return again & again. Perhaps Labour will make it four times after the next election.Politicians aside. There is nothing wrong with those falling out with premier organisations and taking up roles in in the same industry. The idea that you should write people off once failed is a very negative view. The US seems to have a more positive view of failure compared to the UK.

Thanks Andy, I obviously misunderstood.  The latest news is that Wayne will be appointed head coach at Plymouth tomorrow, so he won’t be be joining Sky Sports as a pundit.  
We thought his managerial career was over after Birmingham, so were disbelieving of the Plymouth news.

Wayne Rooney has never been a manager or caretaker manager at QPR.John Eustace who Birmingham sacked for Rooney was once a caretaker boss at QPR.

Thanks for the reply, Richard, on this non Putney story.  I agree with you. Why this story is of interest in our house, is that I am married to a Bluenose (a Birmingham City supporter).  Birmingham City were about 6th in the Championship with a manager doing a decent job, then they brought in Wayne Rooney and the club were relegated.  Plymouth Argyle must be crazy to think of appointing Wayne Rooney.  I understand he might be being considered as a tv pundit too.  Surely you have to string a coherent sentence together to manage a club or be a pundit? I am told he was a QPR caretaker manager too, so I look forward to some amusing comments from the QPR supporters on this Forum, on what I hope will be a funny thread.

Although I don't know a great deal about football, it seems amazing that managers can be sacked for for being useless at one club, and then walk into a highly paid job in another. It wouldn't happen in any other field would it (Post Office CEOs apart, of course...)?
