With hindsight, I do not believe she was as useless as they made her out to be.  She may not have been as decisive as Thatcher, but she was not as devious when compared to Johnson/Gove/Rees Mogg.She had an agreement that would benefit the British trade.Her Brexit agreement was not as ruthless as the ERG wanted.  So, they had Johnson with an oven-ready agreement - pity it never reached the oven.  One gigantic lie after another....  Unforgivable to the lot of them!

I agree Martine. Give had the right idea to do something about leasehold but he was got at by landlords.

Yes they did but to be honest she was bloody useless and it had to be done. The Tories are extremely ruthless in that regard and it's very destabilising.

Well, you may be right - in part.Let us not forget that Boris and Gove both conspired tirelessly to bring Theresa May down.  She was, of course, pushed forward by the ERG as they thought they could manipulate her.....Not a healthy past for the conservative party of late.

No I didn't forget it Ivonne. So many others also conspired to force Boris out and in my opinion that was the beginning of the end for the Tories in power. The divisions within Parliament became wider and eventually the Cabinet fell apart. Perversely my attitude is serves them right.

I dislike Gove's politics and he does have a manipulative intelligence, which is what it's disappointing he failed to push through the leasehold reform. But, as Johnson found out, he's not to be trusted ...

I thought Gove was going to stack the leaseholder issues but he caved in when freeholders lobbied against it. Still, I'm told he can always fall back on disco dancing ...

Sue, I did like Michael Gove, but now I can take him or leave him after he bottled it with regard to the Leasehold Bill.  He surrendered to the Freeholders.

Hi Martine. All he has said atm is that he is not standing for the election. He's a highly intelligent erudite man so he won't be short of offers outside of politics but hopefully he will stay close to the Party in some way. Personally I think he is their greatest loss (next to Boris obviously😉) but I guess a seat on the back bench is not for him.
