E Coli Pollution - Goddard Vet Surgery Urgent Advice

Our vet at Goddards advises all pet owners to keep their dog and s out of the Thames and Beverly Brook due to the horrendous e coli outbreak that has affected numerous rowers and now dogs in the area.They advise that Thames Water are actively monitoring the situation and will advise when it is considered safe to allow dogs and humans into the water.Why has this urgent advice not been more widely communicated to a local population with such a high density of dog owners?https://riveractionuk.com/vile-amounts-of-human-sewage-detected-at-popular-rowing-site-on-the-thames-british-rowing-and-river-action-warn-rivers-users-to-take-extreme-caution/

Thanks for the River Action link.  There is a lot of info on the website.  I was disappointed at the number of problems of pollution in rivers caused by cattle farming.  I was reminded some years ago now of a big dairy and cheese company in the South West being prosecuted and of the reports of bullying and intimidation that emerged as having occurred within that company.  It can take courage to be a whistleblower.  The more people that report and test and photograph spills the harder it will become for the coverups.  "Friends of" groups can help with this.

There was a reduction in testing of our waterways everywhere which obviously reduced the knowledge and action required in dealing with this across the UK.Surfers Against Sewage have been campaigning about this for a very long time but unfortunately their name only shows where their interests started!Thames 21 is probably more active locally on smaller waterways.  It isn't just the untreated poo in them that is a problem and is bad for all wildlife.

Thank you for the posting the advise from Goddards. I did not realize it would affect Beverly Brook in Richmond Park.  Thank you again.The issue of sewage into rivers and seas is beyond comprehension and totally outrageous.  It angers me and shocks me beyond belief.
