On the evening News, cyclists being hit with on the spot fines of £50 for going past traffic lights. At last, their being watched, must have been so many people complaining.

That sounds very sensible David.Unfortunately the problem is only going to get worse. A cargo bike, much heavier than a normal bike, which had basically a metal bar way Infront of the wheel, ran a red crossing light the other day. This method of goods transport is completely unregulated.Unfortunately we are governed by people who think Spanish and the Netherlands laws are too Draconian. Perhaps a Brexit benefit for those that hold such views??

Drivers are no better though - they swing around corners into roads at speed when they can have no idea at all of what might be ahead of them. They often also seem to think that the number on a maximum speed sign is the minimum instead of the maximum but depending on conditions! And as for them thinking they have some sort of right to pass everyone slower despite the width of the road and what the Highway Code says - well - words defeat me!!!Awareness training is definitely needed by many road users!

Of course some cyclists behave badly and yes they can be sanctimonious. But the TV clip I saw showed errant cyclists in the City accepting awareness training instead of a fine. If that teaches them to share the road, everyone will benefit.

After all the fines they have dished out, just proves, cyclists aren't that fantastic as some on the forum think they are. They do go past traffic lights and don't care if your crossing the road and swerve around you and give you a dirty look as though your the one in the wrong.
