Parcel Deliveries

Be careful a man has been coming down our road trying to steal parcels that have been left in the garden. He has been caught on door cams from residents.

Maybe not this time.  However, reducing the number of small individual home deliveries also reduces the number of vans racing around the streets on their unreasonable timed delivery rounds increasing the traffic cluttering up the streets and parking on pavements damaging them making them dangerous for pedestrians.  There's a bigger picture.

Barbara  So?  I was just pointing out that there are alternatives now so that you can avoid the hassle. You don't necessarily have to go far.  The couriers and online companies tend to ask you for your safe place when you are ordering. The police use doorcam for identifying people but thieves not wanting to be identified with masks and hoodies over their heads are more difficult to ID.  They have been especially good for IDing catalytic converter and car thief gangs - and even worse.

Andy. That would be ideal but delivery companies don't always deliver on the day or slot when they're expected to. On one occasion we were in Costa at East Putney and a parcel was delivered a day early. The Ring doorbell showed us the  delivery driver bending down to put the parcel on the doorstep in full view of the street before leaving. I was able to nip round the corner quickly and rescue it before anyone removed it. (Or else someone spotted it was vegan "cheese"and didn't fancy it :-) )

Yes Andy, but we have also have our own Road site, residents take them in for their neighbours and notify them. Also the residents are showing video's of the men or who ever in their garden.

Surely people  knowing that thieves are always about, should only arrange deliveries when they are in

Pardon me Philippa, a locker will stop a thief coming in your garden and poking about in your bushes to see what he can find. All on door cam. People shouldn't have to go miles to their nearest locker.  A lot of people have money and have items delivered regularly. We are not Ealing, stay on your own forum site. I was notify our local residents. This is not a one off.

In some places eg at petrol stations there are lockers you can use so that this doesn't happen and recently I found that a local Tesco was being used as a delivery and return point for a courier company.
