Closure of Putney Embankment close to the bridge.

On the front page plans are announced for the old Star and Garter pub building which include a proposal to seek closure to vehicles of that section of the Embankment. Proposals already exist to make this section cycle and pedestrian only. Does anyone have any views on this? We no longer drive, but this s a favourite walkway and as one restriction often leads to another I'm rather anxious not to see access further restricted as it could so easily be.

It's been closed while TW have been doing the construction work ontge sewer and I've not heard major problems reported.

Doesn't seem to impair any access for the boathouses.

Which slip way, you have a slip way on the left near the Bridge and a big flat slip way by the Boat Clubs. How do the rowers get to the club with all their gear etc.

A 'partial road closure' by the Star and  Garter does sound worrying.  I would hope there would still be pedestrian access and also access for rowers etc.  And, indeed, for watching The Boat Race (I know that's only once a year but it is very significant  event.)

Will it affect the Boat Clubs and getting their rowing boats down to the water front.
