Some sociopathic beancounter has decided to close this marvellous little community branch and move the staff to the smaller secondary Boots location in Putney High St. Aghast

This Boots shop is always busy. To which services The Doverhouse Estate and more… Residents and others will now have to get Transport to get into Putney.Bearing in mind. There are plenty of Pensioners and Disabled people in this area to which will be effected by this.SHAME ON BOOTS.

You're right. I meant Walgreens....

I was under the impression that Boots was one of the shops that was suffering from an awful lot of shoplifting - as a lot of their merchandise was easy to sell on.

I am surprised that the larger Boots at the bottom of the High St is due to close. I was convinced the one near Werter Rd was about to close due to the lack of staff, lack of merchandise and it looks dirty......I agree with you that the quality in Boots has almost collapsed. How very sad!

Although it sounds like it and they are both American (and I originally thought that too) I understand that Walmart and Walgreens are not connected. Walmart owns Asda.
I heard the larger Boots at the bottom of the High St is due to close sometime. No idea when. That'll leave the smaller Boots. Have to say they've really declined since Walmart took them over. They used to be marvellous, with regular staff who knew everyone. I use Putney Pharmacy mostly now - really top notch.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucejapsen/2023/12/12/once-again-walgreens-may-try-to-unload-uk-boots-drugstores/Perhaps you should all be contacting HO to see if you can get them to increase staff reiterating the importance of that branch for you. The Use It or Lose It mantra also comes to mind. Too often we just do the British thing and vote with our feet and make things worse for ourselves. Don't give up because you had a few bad experiences.

Just to add -I was in the large Boots in the High Street late this afternoon. The 2 pharmacists were struggling with a very long queue and there were no other people serving in the entire shop. One of the pharmacists had to leave the queue to serve me on a separate counter. She said things were awful there but that it was not closing. There seems to be some serious management issues there.

I love the ‘ sociopathic beancounter ‘ but I’d recommend Putney Pharmacy in the URR. Excellent pharmacists and much better service than any of the Boots.

"Which other pharmacies have easy parking?"I can only think of ones on red routes with red route parking. Towards East Putney for example - Husbands is excellent.I myself use Boots in East Sheen which forces me to cycle there, but there is lots of red route parking too. URR West Putney red route parking is sparse.Let's hope an independent pharmacy takes it over.

Really bad news. One of the few places you could expect to park close to just pop in and buy things. Which other pharmacies have easy parking?

sorry that people down at DHR end have lost this but I was more sad when the little independent chemist that was there before it was taken over by Boots. Felt a bit like Starbucks or Tesco taking over the world when I first saw it. I of course have let it go now ;-)

It is difficult to comprehend why it is closing. It serves the people who shop in the parade very well indeed. Not a wise decision and I agree with the term sociopathic beancounter!

Amanda it is disgusting all the shops shutting, there must be a lot of people who use the Boots who live in Dover House Rd, or all the big houses on the URR.
