Sainsbury's

Still nobody on the tills, even on a Friday. Went into the large Boots Thursday, they didn't seem to have hardly any staff. Was told their not taking on anymore.  Was also told when the old large R.Dyas shut it got squatters, they had to get Security in there afterwards otherwise the owners would have had to pay thousands if they got in there again.  R.Dyas could have stayed there really as they still haven't done anything with the site. Even though it is meant to be a hotel.  10 yrs later.

Kew have tills at M & S.

Although,  the M&S food halls are mainly self service - or at least the ones at stations such as Waterloo and St Pancras are - but perhaps that's because it's mainly commuters grabbing a few items. I've not been in the High Street Kensington one recently which still used to have a number of checkout till operators.

Also last week Sainsbury's at the cig counter, a lady had took some items to be served and had bought some fresh ginger, they could not weigh it at the cig counter and asked her to to go to where the vegtables are and weigh the 3 pieces and then go back to pay. I think this is really not organised or managed properly.

Michael, lets hope so miss M & S.  Sainsbury's one of the staff said their not taking on more staff. One till on, people being told use self check out, I'll help come over here, I'll do it for you. will you come over here. Not right, if they can help get on a blasted till and serve. Otherwise I'm going to ask the little cat to come in the warm and sit on a till.

How can you have self service tills in Boots, with Drugs and Medication. Also the price of perfume and opening the cabinets with locks on.

I understood that Walgreens had been trying to sell Boots stores for a while.  They certainly suddenly started on the getting rid of cashier staff and installing self-service machines.  The Life Scientific on Radio 4 today certainly seems to show that the northern store Booths (not Boots) may be doing the right thing in  reinstalling staffed tills instead of self-service ones.  Many part-timers eg those with care responsibilities of whatever kind must be particularly pleased!

I have not heard that the large Boots will be closing down. However, this Boots as well as that near Werter Road is very often depleted of merchandise and very few staff seem to be around.My husband and I often comment that it looks as if both stores are being purposely depleted.....  :-( :-( :-(

I think I've heard from several sources that the large Boots will be closing at some point when BOots does their next round of closures. Have to say Boots, in general, has gone down a lot in my opinion since they were taken over by the American Co Walgreens.
