'Oldest pub' depends on definition. 'Oldest still operating in original premises?' 'Oldest but not still etc?' 'Oldest ever?' By the first definition, the Green Man (c.1700) has a strong claim. By the second, I'd be inclined to say the Fox & Hounds, there having been an inn on the site, 'At the Sign of the Anchor', possibly as far back as the 16th century.
