URR down to one lane again! We need utilities to pay per lane per hour for closures
I think Thames Water are putting in some meters for one of the large houses that have been renovated and converted to flats. But do we really need the road closed for the whole weekend?Ideally we would have a Mayor willing to take on the utility companies.Charging the utility companies a fee per lane per hour (perhaps even minute) could be one solution. Applied to mayor roads such as red routes. With modern materials and pollution, yes even those ULEZ compliant vehicles cause pollution as do buses etc, it would concentrate effort to minimize impact.Of course it wouldn't help the fiasco of the Manor Circus works which are TFL responsibility.Perhaps the charge should be on any major road works with the proceeds being split between the local authority and the Mayor? That would certainly create some accountability.
