Ivonne, my understanding is that won't work with 5G as it requires a higher density of transmitter/receivers than 4G and 3G. Yes, I know O2 plan to shut down their 3G service, I think at the beginning of 2024. Ny understanding is othe networks plan to do so as well.

I totally agree that it makes sense to use existing infrastructure.As for the G5 masts, I am not convinced that they have to be placed next to houses.  Can the borders of parks not work just as well?  Virgin are stopping all their hot spots as from 1 November 2023 because "G4 and G5 work much better".I must find out how my mobile will work outside home without having to connect to shop's wi-fi.....

Yes, dogs use lamp posts for their p-mails; don't want to get those mixed up with our e-mails, do we? :-)

Oh now they tell us. I wouldn't have had the Covid vaccine if I hadn't thought that I would thereby become a mobile 5g booster of local connectivity!I mean lamp-posts are already in use for EV charging (and dogs).

I suppose it makes sense to use existing infrastructure? I'm not sure that's necessarily suitable for 5G but ubiquitous public wi fi sounds useful, but perhaps for looking up bus timetables and finding restaurants rather than on line banking …
