Museum description:
John Logie Baird (1888-1946) invented the world's first working television system and the world's first fully electronic colour television broadcast. In early 1923, Baird moved to Hastings where he transmitted moving silhouette images. In 1924 he moved to London, and in March 1925 gave the first public demonstrations of moving silhouette images by television at Selfridges department store. On 30 September 1929, the first BBC television transmission took place, starting a trial service to 29 sets. Sound and vision were transmitted alternatively. From March 1931, sound and vision were first broadcasted simultaneously from Brookmans Park. From December 1944, Baird lived at a house in Station Road, Bexhill-on-Sea. Sets like these were sold in 1930 for 25 guineas(£26.25).
