A lovely video from 1940s London

I hope this will work here: it's a video of a journey from Parliament Square to the south side of Westminster bridge, but from a very different age. Apart from anything else, the cyclist weaving his way insouciantly past lorries, taxis, trams - and even tramlines! - is a joy to watch.https://fb.watch/mTS_OL9QxF/

Trolley buses! Now, there's a thing; they don't seem to exist in the UK any more, but there are plenty in smaller towns in Czechia and in many of the ex-Soviet republics, and they do have many advantages over trams, (not that I'm making a political point).

The link seems to work ok but it made me log into Facebook again even though I already had an open session.Interesting video, reminds me of living in London in the 1950s; I don't remember trams but there were trolley buses and steam trains in Haringey and few cars on side roads - travelling or parked!

No road markings at all! Everybody looks so relaxed - probably thanks to the absence of traffic jams.

Just to emphasise: I'm making no political point here, though there was certainly scope for it: I just wanted to share something I thought worth sharing because it's delightful.
