That's an interesting observation about Oxford. Perhaps because of the historical number of cyclists motorists are also a lot more wary. I've found cyclists there observe the rules and walk their bikes through pedestrian areas whereas I regularly see cyclists riding down lanes marked with a 'no cycling' sign in London.  However I have seen three people on one e-scooter on the road in Oxford - but just once.  There are also an awful lot of buses in Oxford.It IS just rental e-scooters in Paris and not ALL e-scooters.  Not sure about rentals from shops.Also what is not mentioned in the headlines is that there was only a 7 or 8 per cent participation in the vote!  It seems it was just for Parisiens and not all those who travel into Paris to work.  Paris has for years had stricter car use rules in the capital and will be bringing in a private car ban on the near future.

Yes, another referendum that said "no", well, I suppose "non". However, if I heard a news item correctly it's only the on street hire scooters that are banned, not privately owned ones or ones that can be rented by the day from some shops?The scheme in Oxford seems to work well: they seem to be neatly parked in their parking spots and users seem disciplined about riding them on the road rather than pavements; perhaps it's an ingrained culture from years of bike usage?
