Parking

Heathbridge have had their parking space taken away in the road out the front, also outside Husbands Chemist nearly opposite. Why are they making life so difficult for people.

When in Rome you need to deal with the authorities there and when you are elsewhere you need to deal with the authorities elsewhere.  It's pretty pointless trying to deal with the wrong authorities, Councillors or MPs etc.HOWEVER www.fixmystreet.com CAN be very useful especially when you are not sure who is responsible for something eg a road or pavement or lighting or other hazard and who you exactly you need to contact eg City Council or Local Council etc.  You can use that as I have often done all around the country.  You can even see if anyone else has reported a particular hazard or problem and when or whether it has been fixed.

Of course there was parking outside the Surgery. Been stopped for about a year.  Don't need disabled so wouldn't be able to park there anyway. Haven't a badge.  I wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise.

Yes Michael, certain times, my other half got a ticket outside Husbands Chemist.

Barbara. I'm a little puzzled. Is this something that is planned, where is it stated? Just been along URR and there's a disabled parking bay from just past the Rosy Lea tea shop which turns into a parking bay that runs outside Husbands Chemist then stop just where the Prince of Wales patio begins. Outside Heathbridge practice there's a disabled parking bay, was there ever a normal parking bay as it's in a bus lane? There are a couple of parking bays on the carriageway opposite Heathbridge practice. Some bays are restricted to use outside of rush hour, wasn't that always the case? (That was around an hour ago.)

Barbara, sorry wasn't really disagreeing with you. Yes, it's puzzling why they would remove those spaces. Have they removed other ones?

Yes they probably are, but the point is, which you all seem to have missed is, there was parking outside Heathbridge Surgery, probably for an hour. But not now or the Husband Chemist. The road isn't narrow like the High Street, so why take away parking outside.

URR is on a red route, aren't they managed by TfL?

Ealing have a different Council than Wandsworth, deal with your own area.

Why?  These challenges aren't limited to just one area.  Most of us have family friends all over the place and there are often ideas to be looked at and solutions to be found elsewhere in the wider community, country and world.

Many chemists now deliver prescriptions - although of course that may not be what you want to go there for.

They already have the ability to monitor speed for security purposes.

Side issue, but will these onboard computers be able to control speed and keep it legal?

Barbara, I do drive I just don't own a car; I use Zipcars when public transport is not a realistic option. One of the reasons I avoid driving in London is the hassle and expense of parking - of course I'm fortunate that at my age I travel free on public transport provided I don't get up too early. I agree that not having parking spaces by doctors' surgeries and chemists is poor planning and very inconvenient, particularly for blue badge holders.

Michael, everybody who has to get a new vehicle will have to start over again with the parking as a new registration.Even my other half forgot to cancel the parking when he left a job. Which obviously cost him more. But as you  don't drive it's not your problem. The main issue was the lack of parking by Heathbridge Surgery and the chemist.

I wonder. As new cars become computers that enable one to drive between locations and have real time communications for navigation, monitoring, and - potentially - road charging could the onboard computer communicate with the parking system automatically? I suppose there's also the question that if one can't operate the parking app does one have the cognitive ability to face modern driving conditions? Just asking the question :-)

Also my cousins son, was on the News ITV and BBC News yesterday as he is a councilor for Sutton. Saying Cashless Payment was the way forward for Parking. But not in my mind  for all elderly.
