Not sure what the surprise is.This current Government has had 12 years to plan for this and has done very little to ensure that there are enough trained heat pump installers. It's almost as if they, in the pockets of the petrochemical companies, didn't want the alternatives to oil/gas to succeed as well. This is the current Government that has just backed more oil/gas exploration under the auspices of its "net zero" policy.Secondly, it's no great surprise that electricity is more expensive than gas. The cost of gas is climate change. Renewable electricity is always going to be more expensive than gas/oil right now, but doesn't need to be in the future if the Government shifted its investment from oil/gas into green energy.I guess the question is whether you want to pay less at the expense of the environment or not.Another way to sum up this story is "thing that saves money in the long run is expensive up front, so why bother", which sums up the current Government energy policy entirely.
