Wandsworth Bridge to close onext Monday

I expect others have received the email from Wandsworth Council "to alert you to the forthcoming closure of Wandsworth Bridge which will close to all vehicle traffic on Monday 24 July for approximately ten weeks."That'll be fun, won't it? But at least we can still walk or cycle over it, which will help to produce a more favourable modal shift towards more active travel (my spellchecker tried to make it "a more favourable moral shift", which wasn't entirely wrong).

Modal shift may not be totally positive. For people with limited mobility the failure to provide adequate alternatives on buses may force them back into cars.This looks as though it will be extremely messy, particularly when the public transport strikes are on.

Cyclists should dismount and walk over it, unless the information has changed?“During this period, pedestrians will still be able to safely cross the bridge in both directions, as will cyclists, although they will need to dismount and wheel their bikes across.”https://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/wandsworthbridge
