Home Office paints over murals at an asylum centre for lone children

I thought the meanness and spite inherent in the government's "very hostile environment" policy couldn't sink any lower, but Robert Jenrick has managed it effortlessly. He has ordered the murals of cartoon characters in a centre for unaccompanied children to be painted over because they gave the impression that the UK was “welcoming” to asylum seekers who cross the Channel in small boats. I'm not sure two 100 year old characters that represent certain gender stereotypes of the time would be the best characters to represent modern Western life never mind UK life.Disney has some excellent characters that would be more appropriate but why use US based characters at all? There are excellent UK children's characters that would be more appropriate.More concerning is the lack of questions about how these unaccompanied childcare are being trafficked and where are they coming from?
