Well, I believe she did run a pub ... of course, she may have been moon lighting ...

If you believe she was a pub landlady then it is logical that she left the civil service.The opposite is that she was still a civil servant whilst being a pub landlady.If that is the case then logically she may still be a civil servant whilst working for Labour.On the plus side with so much foreign interference in the UK political parties why not?

Perhaps, but she does not start till September 2023, I think.My initial question is why has the Cabinet Office issued this statement today? It seems so terribly odd to me!

But, for for better or worse, no longer a civil servant, I guess now an employee of the Labour Party?

"As I understand it now she's left the civil service.."She has just moved departments or assignments if you prefer.
