Curry's delivery prices are listed on their website.  If you choose a timed delivery for a large item it is more expensive. So extremely disappointing that they were unable to deliver on time BUT it appears that the neighbour will get the money back.Data Protection causes a lot of problems when trying to do anything for anyone else.  Unfortunately it often seems to be used as an excuse.  Curry's also charge £15 for taking away your old fridge for recycling.  This is usually cheaper than getting a licensed man and van in and avoids having to wait around a second time for collection and take away. I think John Lewis' is about the same with a £20 disposal fee.  There are clear instructions on the website on how to present your old fridge or freezer for collection ie defrosted, clean and dry!  I'd expect both of them to install your fridge and take away all the packaging as part of the deal.Council bulky waste collections often cost more (although may be for several items) and may not be as easy to organise particularly with timing and especially of something heavy.Everyone should note that it can be very difficult to dispose of large American fridges/fridge freezers as many companies won't take them. (And even more so if the home has been altered and they can no longer get them out.  I've heard of people having to get a crane to lift to them out!)You are responsible for engaging a licensed waste collector as you as well as them can be heavily fined if you don't. You need to keep proof in case whatever you handover is flytipped.  Never hand over waste to someone door knocking and offering to dispose of stuff for you as it is often found dumped around the corner - or I've heard of the money being handed over only for the the van never appearing from around the corner to pick the waste up.
