Bishops Park Bank Holiday Noise vandals

It looks like Fulham Council have again let the Park to some private operators for concerts all this Bank holiday weekend. I feel very sorry for anyone with children, the elderly or sick who are being ignored by the Council, The park, which should be a haven of peace and quiet is now being used to harass decent families and residents during their well-deserved rest period.I have telephoned Fulham Council Noise department  on 020 8748 8588 and they seemed quite professional. I hope all our weekends are not ruined.

"It's just disproportionately represented here."Should there be a grumpiness quota then?I doubt that the site has the software. It can't read the time right, so I doubt that it could handle variables of tone or mood.

I think the Forum is a good way of testing local opinion.  If people agree with you over, say a planning application, then you know whether to take further action or not.  Maybe younger people aren’t interested or don’t have the time.  Also they are all on TikTok and YouTube or just talking to their friends online. re: the noise from Fulham Palace, I have wondered how much notice those living nearby got of the event.  If you were getting married on Saturday afternoon, at one of the churches by the river, you would surely have heard the noise inside the church?

If you mean by ‘ageist’ my reference to old people, do you think my being over 60 might not qualify my opinion? You cannot deny this forum is populated by mostly over 60s who come here to be grumpy.

My husband said it was the acoustics and that the sound was bouncing off the buildings. 
Re: the ageist comments above, when my teenage son came home yesterday about 7.00 pm, he couldn’t believe the noise was still going on and complained it was too loud. Told my husband I wanted to go to Ibiza, he said send him a postcard!

Yes Martine, I often hear them singing at Fulham football or shouting. But yesterday as we got home we were both looking up and down the road because it was so loud. Could not believe coming all that way from Bishops Park.

Barbara, I had a laugh at Freddie’s comment.  It was me that wanted to go to the MoS on Saturday night, another of those things I had wanted to do in life and now was my opportunity.  I asked my teenage daughter to go to keep me company, as it’s not my husband’s type of music. When we were there she said, mum it is too loud for young people like her as they have sensitive teenage hearing and then she had to have a sit down because she was tired.  I was enjoying it all so much, and I am over 60, I was sorry when it was over.  
Yesterday, the noise was really loud.  In the garden, the noise sounded like it was coming from URR not Fulham Palace, but in the house you could tell it was from FP.

Freddie, I don't think Martine was grumpy, Martine went with her daughter Saturday, but last night was unbelievable I could feel the house thumping. We never came home till 8 as had been in Surbiton. It was so load we thought somebody in our road was having a party.

Grumpy (not a surprise in this forum) old people complaining about other people - mostly younger - having a ball in difficult times. Twas ever thus. Get over yourselves. And yes, I could hear it very well too.

Michael, the noise was all yesterday afternoon and evening, and it’s same again today.  Was it Friday as well, I don’t want to say something incorrect, but I know I heard noise on Friday afternoon too?  It must have spoilt the Bank Holiday Weekend for people living really close to Fulham Palace.

I remember going to venues like the Greyhound and Golden Lion in Fulham three - four? - decades ago but I understand the NIMBYs had them closed as music venues? So it's a holiday, people want to party, what's wrong with Fulham Palace, where else are they going to go now the rock venues are no more - and Palace charity probably needs the money :-)

Ah yes  - the self-righteous freedom-loving libertarian-not to be confused with the lout who has every right to play loud music in a train carriage, vape in a bus, ride a bike on a footpath, spit gum on the street. Is this acceptable conduct also ?  And why the straw man of young people today? Clearly the previous generation of Brits who were lucky enough to survive the Blitz and WW2 had it far too easy.(Btw we have large theatres for concerts -parks ARE for peace and quiet and families.

I’ve just got back from the Ministry of Sound in Bishops Park.  I wasn’t sure about going as I didn’t want to be the oldest person there, but there were other oldies there too.  I would have said it was mostly a middle aged crowd.  I loved every moment.  My teenage daughter went with me and enjoyed it too. I do feel sorry for local residents because I think it has been going on all day, or so it seems, as well as this evening.

God forbid the younger generation, saddled with graduate debt, unable to afford a home, constrained to these isles by Brexit, should have a bit of fun of a Bank Holiday. This old fart, though maybe just one among many, wishes them well.Who is it that seeks to dictate what the purpose of a park is, that it somehow involves a mandated volume level? Surely it is for the shared enjoyment of all, with different uses from time to time, to suit all tastes. Were the events going on in the middle of the night, I might sympathise with objections.If you don't like large crowds who occasionally make a noise and have fun, maybe move to the Lincolnshire Wolds?

Yes. It  started  about  2 pm. I' m  in  Putney  not  even  on the  river  and  it' s  so  loud  my  windows  are  rattling. How  can  we  complain ?
