Make Putney Bloom

first of all I would like to applaud Putney Society's Garden Award scheme 'encourage wildlife', 'reduce risk of flash flooding' & 'improve our health and wellbeing'.What bothers me is the flash flooding element, I have emailed the council numerous times over the last 9 or 10 years asking them to clear blocked drains in Disraeli Road. My last attempt was March 2022 via Councillor John Locker who kindly & quickly escalated my request to Paul Chadwick as a "priority" - needless to say over 1 year later the drains are still blocked. The good news is the blocked drains have weeds and grass growing between the bars every summer, good for the environment I guess.

my "plastic carpet" is brilliant, incredibly realistic, easy to clean...and strangely the worms, slugs & centipedes love to live under it. If anyone is considering buying a "plastic carpet" get the best quality you can find and make sure it has yellow and brown threads among the green threads. It does not need to be professionally laid, just make sure the ground is level and place 2 sheets of anti weed membrane first.

When is the super sewer going to be opened?We should be encouraging more people to slow the flow of rainwater running off their properties so that it doesn't all hit the sewers at the same time.  There are Building Regulations and those include not just using permeable paving but not replacing like for like eg impermeable concrete with concrete.In some places where there are flash floods the sewage comes up the drains and loos in peoples' homes.
