Running extremists have again targeted London causing mass disruption to the centre of the capital. Emergency services were held up by the runners who blocked roads, caused mass bus diversions and required a heavy police presence. The radical fitness group, who call themselves 'The London Marathon', have targeted the capital on an annual basis, but this year caused additional disruption to the Extinction Rebellion April event, a key gathering for the climate and ecology movement and the capital. Police have so far allowed the running radicals to take over the streets without intervention, but are now calling for more powers due to the levels of disruption. There were angry scenes at some crossing points of the running route, with commuters being delayed for over an hour, and reports of ambulances delayed in their emergency responses. Boris Johnson branded the group 'sweaty lycra-clad charity do-gooders' adding 'we all agree with the importance of getting exercise, but this is no way of going about it. Messing up the Sunday of hundreds of thousands of Londoners is no way to get people on board'. Rishi Sunak has yet to comment.
