The figures do bear some interesting comparison. The UK is currently run by a Conservative government, drawn from a party with a membership of less than 200,000. Said Conservative government has lost not £600,000 but c. £20 billion on contracts for PPE equipment, largely funneled into government procurement contracts by arrangements between its ministers and Conservative Party donors. The one contract involving Baroness Mone which has featured in the press is but the tip of that particular ice-berg.Boris Johnson provides one peculiar example of a lying, corrupt politician sitting at one time at the Conservative Party's apex, but such corruption is widespread throughout the Conservative Party network. This is before we get on to the huge wastes of public and personal money perpetrated by this administration not through theft but simply poor judgement - vanity projects like HS2 and Rwanda, misguided initiatives like Sunak's eat out to die out and venture capital giveaway schemes, not least Truss' recent attempt to trash the entire economy and the fiasco of Brexit. Not to say that such criticisms cannot be levelled at politicians of other persuasions, but to single out the SNP for such criticism does seem to be the height of both hypocrisy and myopia - a clear case of cognitive bias on steroids.
