Ulez ourside London

Khan is being taken to court, by 5 or 6 Boroughs, re: the ULEZ expansion. Camera's in Sutton have been taken down or destroyed. Shame they didn't do the same when it hit Putney.

And from Birmingham to  West London with fears that that last station will become overcrowded.  The new Elizabeth Line I understand can already be very busy.  The result of such a lack of investment in infrastructure over so many years!

Perhaps investment in local rail, tram and bus services across the country would be better than large vanity projects such as HS2? It seems to be being so reduced in scope it will become useless? A fast shuttle service from west London to Birmingham :-(

Manchester would like TFL levels of subsidiaries.We are probably going to see less money spread very thinly around the country going forward due to a mixture of low growth, increase defence spending and levelling up.If TFL are going to tax outer London at the same rate then it should also spread services more evenly. It hasn't. It is also unwilling to reduce services in Inner London where the Mayor's main support is.Instead of cameras which will only raise revenue for about a year you could have buses.It's difficult to see how such rail projects can be justified when there are practically no services in some of the ULEx expansion area.

Of course many would like decent public transport, Ed. But in response to my other post about the improvements to railways in West London you thought too much was being investigated in the London area?

The numbers are huge - we already know that a number of essential workers drive in and with no alternative many I suspect will look elsewhere.Meanwhile money has been wasted on Hammersmith bridge which should have been taken down and moved years ago.

What about vandalism to all the cars that will be destroyed with their owners not having a say. Or sold for nothing. People outside London are not being given the £2000 as far as I know, how much is a new car or nearly new. It's not stopping people getting cars, just getting them taking out finance, or getting themselves in debt.

Vandalism is wrong.Given the numbers - 700,000 I do wonder if this could lead to an poll tax like response?What the process has highlighted is a lack of transparency with regard to data. Without the data being in the public domain it is impossible to evaluate policy.One can only assume that it is being withheld as car ownership and public transport are completely different to inner London.The Greens had an interesting survey which showed a significant percentage would prefer public transport if it were available.

There are five boroughs, four inside Greater London and the ULEZ zone, and one, Surrey, outside the zone that have been granted a judicial review. Are people in favour of vandalism, particularly when the courts will now decide? At least XR's protesters have (had?) an underlying moral value in highlighting climate change.
