TFL

Front page, removes signs on buses as it's false, regarding emissions. Go by Bus they say, blah. blah blah. So much rubbish.

Well there are taxis, dial-a-ride and scooters and cycles.Perhaps buses should only say where they are instead of where their destination is?

Perhaps TFL should run services on Christmas Day to make it easier for people to eat out on Christmas Day without having to  use cars? :-)

Lol.  You can make your own assumptions - but you don't actually know much about what I do or don't do and BTW re Christmas dinner I've cooked it masses of times but have chosen recently not to fall victim to the stress and excess of commercial Christmas.

Do you ride a bike NO. Do you have a car NO. Do you go to work NO. Do you sit on every web site. Yes.  Because you don't live nobody else is meant to. Do you cook Xmas dinner No, you make sandwiches. Other people have to get here there and everywhere. If you spent a little less time telling other people what to do you might see the real world. instead thinking you know it all. Do you go in a pub and tell people how to drink their beer or wine, if you drink it like this it will last longer.

Yes, you would definitely hope that they are doing that at the GLA. I have on occasion watched Mayor's Questions. There is a website that is interesting but it is a shame that it doesn't seem to be used as much as it might be.  More people seem to prefer to just whinge in other places without actively doing anything about their gripe.The subject of air pollution SHOULD be put out there.  Many would prefer to play ostrich because actually doing anything about it is inconvenient to them.  How many asterisks or buts do you think would work on an advertising banner on the side of a bus?  What's the problem with stressing what should be a shared goal?

The whole sentence is clearly shown on the side of the bus even if in different sized fonts - and plus the asterisked clarification.  The largest font bit is the important bit that everyone is striving for - or should be - and is more noticeable.  I suspect some of the complainants are those NOT striving for that at all. It sounds just like party political nit-picking in the GLA. https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/improving-busesBuses are very expensive and are changing.  I wish they would put some of the DRT ones on again.  Compare that to the packet of heavily marketed wet wipes with FLUSHABLE in very large writing on the front and then hidden on the other side of the packet in very small print (that nobody reads) don't flush... more than one at a time.  Now that is truly misleading and designed to be deceptive especially since those wet wipes contain plastic and don't biodegrade.You have to read everything so carefully nowadays.You can't just switch a word for a synonym in a sentence unless you have checked the exact meaning of the word you are choosing instead.  They may be in a list of synonyms and may be similar in meaning but that doesn't mean that they do mean exactly the same thing.

Misleading is giving the wrong idea or impression.  Its synonyms include:  deceptive, confusing, fallacious, deceiving, ambiguous among others.I object to being mislead, don't you?  Also, I do not stop to read adds on buses, or anywhere else for that matter as they are normally overhyped.  This is one of the perfect examples.

To be fair I don't believe much advertising on buses. The main problem is it distracts from the need to address congestion and pollution. It would be interesting to know whether if it was originally a TfL idea or that of an ad agency that TfL signed off. I've noticed that when companies start cutting costs the first often happen in marketing departments …

Misleading because many would not notice the low emission in the smaller font.  Misleading and false do not mean the same thing.

It was very misleading.Another example of over-egging. Like most of the stuff that comes out of TFL and the Mayor these days.Considering how few in number the electric buses are, I was surprised to see them on the 33 route - which is a relatively green route compared to many inner London routes.

Well, I agree with Barbara that the wrapround bus advert was very misleading, to put it mildly!  The wrapround graphic stated that all buses were either "low or zero emission at the tailpipe", with the words “zero-emission” used in a significantly larger font. But only 10% of the fleet were zero-emission.... Others were low emission buses.It would be interesting to know where in London this happens.  In the part of London where I live, most of the buses are well and truly diesel vehicles.
