What isn't made clear with these two applications is that they house 24/7 accessible defibrillators and is the real reason that JC Decaux made the applications in the first place. JC Decaux didn't do the best job with their applications, as they haven't high lighted the real reason that they chose these two sites - they're as near to two really busy stations as possible, and house defibrillators, as well as phones, local information and phone charging facilities. And yes, advertising too. But that's the trade off. I tried, as did the Putney Society, to get defibrillators installed at East Putney Tube and Putney Station - we couldn't get anywhere with East Putney, but managed to get one into Putney Station. Unfortunately it was stolen a few days later. When you ring 999 nowadays, you are asked if you can 'quickly run and get a defibrillator in case of ambulance delays'. As there are no accessible defibs on that part of the Upper Richmond Rd, and only a few available during opening hours on the High St we should all want to have access to a defibrillator. The only 24/7 defib is a JC Decaux one on the Putney Bridge Rd, outside Jubilee House. It has been used a couple of times recently. JC Decaux maintain and look after their defibrillators, which is one reason some don't want to instal defibrillators. We are aware these hubs are also advertising hoardings and street furniture, but strongly feel that having access 24/7 to a defibrillator is worth it. The sites were both chosen carefully as being wide pavements where they won't interfere with pedestrian traffic, and one is directly opposite Putney Station and the other is as near to East Putney Tube as was possible. Having access to a defibrillator is surely more important? I personally hope you will support JC Decaux so that we can get at least two defibrillators accessible 24/7. You only have today to write with your support or objections. Thanks
