The new collages are an improvement and as such offer thought provoking views of the Past in Putney. They also speak of the continuing crisis - disguising as they do empty premises. By 'positive change' I mean exploring how people can be encouraged to bring businesses to Putney, and how to improve the deteriorating infrastructure. I recently forwarded a considerable number of images of filthy Putney streets - /vandalism/litter/pigeon mess - to prospective Parliamentary candidate Lee Roberts. He had shown an interest in such matters, when they were brought to his attention by another Putney resident and I met both of them as they were undertaking an extensive perambulation in Putney! These issues and continuing acute traffic problems (the latter described in a television news article today about the possibility of Hammersmith Bridge reopening in over three years time as 'the worst they have ever been') should be under under discussion by a strategic working groups, formed or at the very least suggested on the night of the 24th January at the Save Putney High Street meeting. Instead, as the Positively Putney website asserts 'It was an interesting meeting with various views shared...'a comment that illustrates how ineffectual this event was. And so I rest my case for local councillors/The Putney Bid to facilitate action beyond publicity about public discussion which has as yet achieved so very very little.
