Ed, I don't disagree that Labour needs to get its policies sorted out. Over the past forty years the Conservatives have been in power for nearly three quarters of the time, particularly for setting the culture in the Home Office in the 1980s and most of the 1990s; Labour may not have been exemplary with regard to immigrants but I don't think they put anti immigrant slogans in the side of buses the way Mrs May did when she was Home Secretary? (Ok, I know it referred to illegal immigrants but some people don't seem capable of telling the difference ... including the Home Office?) And we shouldn't forget the LibDems were also in coalition for some of the time as well.I'll ignore the comment about joining the US, I take it that's just a wind up! That wouldn't give Brexiteers their taking back control - image being subjected to Supreme Court rulings - and US gun laws! Or those who want reasonable social policies and an NHS.I'm sure the EU will evolve as it expands. Yes, the UK could have a Norway or Swiss type deal - some Brexiteers said (lied about?) that before the referendum, but why take the rules without being in the club that makes them? And, remember, Norway and Switzerland are both in the Schengen zone. (I bet the EU would love their economies in the Eurozone!) Why would one build a European car factory in the UK when there isn't free trade with the EU?Life isn't perfect, I guess we want to aim for something that is satisfactory and sufficient? Starmer says he'll fix Brexit. Perhaps when he looks at it he'll realise the only way to do that is to roll it back to where it was then move forward with something with similar, working, outcomes to what the UK had before? A bit like one does with a database corrupted by a bit of bad code? :-)
