gas cooker distress

I hate hassles and do everything I can to avoid them  Arranged for replacement cooker and covered every eventuality of a problem, I thought.Cooker duly arrived  Old one taken out for disposal  My original cooker had been a high eye level grill.  The gas fitter refused because of new regulations,to install.  The electrical socket was too close to the actual cooker and could cause a fire.They refused to move the socket, not their job. Off they went You'll get a refund for non connection of cooker. Luckily, I had my brilliant grandaghter here, who very swiftly arranged for next day electicty engineer and gas fitter Unfortunately this cost just over £200 for each person !  I was not impressed  Am a pensioner on fixed income I am now pretty much  insolvent.  To add insult to injury my boiler had been turned off and I was left with no heating either! Never mind getting help with energy bills, have to sort out payment for having the equipment

Did the engineers turn off your gas while they connected your cooker. Because if they did surely they should have made sure your boiler was then on.

Had the gas cooker 14 years and never  It was just getting a bit decrepit and in need of a upgrade, like me really
