Ring Doorbells

I know that there are a lot of Ring Doorbells around Putney, and the neighbourhood police seem keen on them - although they would note that other doorbell devices are available besides Amazon's. There's rumours Ring or one of their suppliers have been hacked, although Ring are not saying much about it; perhaps they don't know?https://www.vice.com/en/article/qjvd9q/ransomware-group-claims-hack-of-amazons-ringAs some security experts have been joking on LinkedIn "I've still got a door knocker" …I expect it will hit mainstream news soon if it's true and I'm sure with all those doorbells installed in the UK and EU they'd have to notify the ICO and EU regulators to meet GDPR requirements if it s correct.

And Forbes are carrying it as well (although they acknowledge Vice as the source). They carry the update that Ring indicate one of their suppliers has been compromised.

Ivonne. Probably trust them as much or more as some of the media: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vice_(magazine) I picked the story up from a contact on LinkedIn that I would trust. The Vice article came up in a Google search. It's being covered by other tech journals but I selected that as others were using it as a source. It does indicate facts are unclear.  (More than the Mail does sometimes ...)

Thank you Michael for the information.How trustworthy are vice.com?  I tried to find information under "About us" as there really is no information there other than a selection of pictures of different companies.....
