Rubbish question

From the WBC website:-"If you have a front garden or drivewayPut any sacks/dustbins for collection in your front garden or driveway and close to the entrance from the street. We do not collect from back gardens, back/side alleys or landings. Placing dustbins or waste sacks on the public pavement can result in a fine of up to £2,500."And yet it looks like pretty well everybody on my street puts their sacks out on the public pavement against their front wall on collection day.Is this generally the done thing now?

In Wales you can get fined for leaving your bin on the street after collection or if you put it out too early.There is also no appeal process!Wandsworth & Richmond are fairly chilled compared to other authorities."There is no appeals process for Waste Enforcement Fixed Penalty Notices. If you feel that you should not have received the notice, the opportunity to disagree would be through the Magistrates Court. "

They need to be very visible as there is always the fear that they will be missed if they aren't - and that is a hassle no-one wants.Most councils seem to require residents to keep their waste on their own land so that the pavements are kept clear of obstacles and trip hazards for use by pedestrians, wheelchair and buggy users.  Logical really! It takes two to tango.

That's exactly what we do and all our neighbours do, had no idea we were supposed to leave on the drive!
